FAQs
Do I need to know how to read or write music?
No. Though it would help for proofing, you do not need this skill at any point during the transcription or scoring process. That's what we're here for!! How does payment work, and what forms of payment do you accept? Generally we operate on 50% payment upfront and the other 50% upon completion. Once a project is complete we provide a 1st page proof of completion and mp3 of the full PDF. For larger more complex and multifaceted products, this may differ. Paypal is our number one method of payment. How do I get started? First contact us regarding your project. We will send you a quote upon clarification. Upon receipt of initial payment, we get started right away! How do I get my song to you, and what types of media do you accept? We can transcribe anything from recorded music, to music from a video, to hand-written music. Generally we prefer mp3s, wav/aiffs, youtube links, soundcloud links and clearly scanned jpg/pdf files sent to us via the email we provide you. If for whatever reason you cannot get us your material by email, you may also mail us your CD, DVD or sheet music. We will not be able to transcribe material sent to us on cassette, DAT or vinyl at this time. |
How do you deliver the finished product?
All completed transcriptions are emailed to your specified email account. If you do not have an email account and/or need 8x11 Black and White prints mailed, we can offer that service as well. What if I want to make a change or find an error? We offer one free complimentary spot check to your transcription for within two weeks of receiving the completed score. It is important the your edit requests are thorough, specifying major number and instrument staff. What are your rates? For a tentative Rates Breakdown, click here. Who is Transcribing my work? We are a vast network of musicians trained in classical, jazz and contemporary musical performance. Once an order is received, the transcriber best suited to handle your request gets started. What is the turn-around time? For the transcription of up to five minute songs containing up to four simple instruments, the turn around time often comes out to two weeks. For more complex transcriptions, arrangements or film-scores, turn around times may vary.
